Abstract
Summary form only given. We presented the design and full-node implementation of STARNET-II; a direct-detection optical communications computer network. Packet-loss ratio of 3.9 10/sup -8/ recommended for multimedia applications was demonstrated. STARNET-II has a power budget of 28.6 dB and channel spacing of 0.5 nm. It can support up to 80 nodes.
