  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Chromium-doped forsterite (Cr/sup 4+/:Mg/sub 2/SiO/sub 4/) laser materials are of interest because this material permits the development of tunable solid-state sources in the 1.13-1.37-/spl mu/m wavelength range. Since the first demonstration of laser operation several years ago, high-power operation, and mode-locked picosecond and femtosecond operation have been achieved in this material.
