Abstract
Summary form only given. In this contribution silica-based rare earth-doped double-clad fiber lasers are described, which are developed for laser operation at high output powers and efficiencies. By applying optimized fiber architectures and mode-scrambler devices output powers of approximately cw 10 W in single-transverse-mode operation are observed for neodymium-doped double-clad fibers.
