Abstract :
Modularized A/D (analog-to-digital) device and system development which can be easily implemented is presented. Design schemes based on a 4-b minimal A/D converter which is expandable to 8, 12, 16, or 32 b on a modular basis is presented. In addition, this modular expansion can be used to realized any size A/D converter module. Such an adaptable system can be very efficient and cost effective, and can be customized for maximum utilization in a given application. In addition to system-level expansion schemes of the A/D converter system, actual logic and digital circuit realizations for a 4-b A/D converter module are presented
