Abstract :
The gyrotron travelling wave amplifier has been recently demonstrated to obtain high peak power. Its efficiency and bandwidth are also favorably predicted. We will consider high cyclotron harmonic modes to achieve lower magnetic field. For this purpose the linear dispersion equation for the non-vanishing rf angular mode is analysed to find the growth rate (gain). Efficiency and other circuit parameters will also be discussed.
