Abstract :
Summary form only given. Dark spatial optical solitons arising from balancing of self-defocusing effects and diffraction effects are of current interest because of potential applications such as in optical waveguides. Theoretical analysis shows that there is a phase jump in the central of the dark solution. To observe the flexible waveguide, a He-Ne beam was sent into the dark soliton with use of another glass platelet. According to our theoretical analysis, the thermal self-defocusing effect can be regarded approximately as a Kerr effect for the size of medium smaller than the width of dark soliton,.
