Abstract :
The mixed powder for pressing nickel Matrix cathode is separated into two layers: the central layer with activators while the top one without. This method together with the proper choice of activators results in lower work function, less sublimation, more resistant to gas poisoning and longer life. The principle of operation of this pressed multi-layer nickel matrix cathode is described by the model of dynamical surface emission center.
