Abstract :
This paper describes the conception of a wide-band klystron and obtained results. This RF amplifier delivers peak output power of 3.3 MW, and 10 kW average output power, with a 50 dB gain and approximately 42 % efficiency. The instantaneous bandwidth is greater than 7.1%, for less than 1 db dispersion. This achievement leads to the possibility of obtaining even greater instantaneous bandwidth at low peak power levels.
