Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the observation of steady-state, sub-Doppler light amplification by coherence in Doppler-broadened /spl Lambda/-type Rb atomic systems. Qualitative understanding of the experimental observation can be inferred from a theoretical analysis of a three-level /spl Lambda/-type system including the effect of the Doppler broadening.
