Abstract :
This paper presents the designs and experimental results of Thomson-CSF 100 GHz gyrotron oscillator and mode converter. The tube delivers an output power of 210 kW with a pulse duration of 100 ms and a mode purity of 99 % at a one percent duty cycle. The main feature of this study is the choice of an asymmetric mode the TE34mode. The original TE34/TE01mode converter is described. Its measured conversion efficiency is 98.8 %.
