Abstract :
In case of the speed synchronization for multi-motors, the real time data communication is necessary. In order to satisfy this requirement, the complex signal lines are usually used to detect each motor speed and to command the desired speed. Such a traditional implementation technique induces many problems in the view of reliability and economy because of the amount and complexity of wiring, noise and maintenance problems. These problems are serious especially when the motor controllers are separated widely. In this paper, we propose the simple synchronization system with the aid of serial communication using the controller area network (CAN) to overcome these problems. CAN is generally applied in car networking in order to reduce the complexity of the related wiring harnesses. These traditional CAN application techniques are modified to achieve the real time communication for the multi-motor control system. Also, the speed synchronization technique is developed and the proposed methods are verified experimentally
