Abstract :
Digital control of a thyristor cycloconvertor using a microprocessor offers the potential advantages of circuit simplification, precision in implementation and high system reliability. A practical constraint has been associated with the limited arithmetic capability of the microprocessor. The present paper describes a method of cycloconvertor control that expressly departs from the conventional cosine timing control principle in the search for processing simplification. Experimental investigations have demonstrated satisfactory cycloconvertor performance based on the computationally efficient algorithms developed, as well as the flexible nature of the software approach adopted.
