Abstract
In this paper we present a new technique to extend the future capabilities of Area Monitoring Networks to be used inside nuclear facilities. This technique extends the speed of response of individual area monitors by using non uniform sampling (NUS) in order to recognize the passage of a gamma radiation source through its sensing zone. This enables these networks to have the capability of monitoring and detecting the movements of potentially dangerous radioactive gamma sources.
