Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Several different tools are available for the transient analysis of power systems. These tools range from real-time simulation tools such as a transient network analyzer and the real-time digital simulator, through network modelling tools such as the EMTP-type of programs and SPICE, to mathematical and control modelling tools. The presentations in this panel discuss the salient features of each of these tools. The level of modeling detail that is possible for each of these tools is presented as is their range of applicability. Case studies are presented to demonstrate typical applications
