Abstract :
In this paper we present a new method for approximating the period-doubling locus of a piecewise-linear model of the Colpitts oscillator. This method exploits harmonic balance techniques for solving the variational equation associated with a generic limit cycle. In this way conditions for a period-doubling bifurcation are derived
