Abstract :
In this paper, we propose jigsaw panel system that aims to build a delightful human-computer interaction in the multimedia authoring. Jigsaw panel employs the concept of tangible user interface (TUI). In the most of the current TUI researches, the physical objects to operate virtual objects or functions are designed in abstract shapes and they pay very few attentions to the affordances that the physical objects have. In Jigsaw panel, user can edit multimedia data by connecting or layout the physical transparent panels which are assigned multimedia data or computational functions. These panels have shapes just like a jigsaw puzzle, and users can receive the affordances by their shapes this allows the users to intuitively find how to use computational functions and what conditions are required to use them. In the experiments to evaluate the jigsaw panel, we found internal delight obtained by the interaction with tasks or contents are very important to accomplish the tasks, while external delight provided by the interaction of the computers functions only in the beginning of the task. We also discussed, in this paper, about the factors to make the internal delight spring up in users´ minds.
