Abstract :
A disadvantage of TDD systems compared to FDD systems is the additional interference that can occur between the uplink and downlink. An antenna array is incorporated at the base station in order to reduce interference problems in a TDD system. With the benefit of an approximately reciprocal channel of a TDD system, this array is not only utilized to receive signals in the uplink, but also is utilized to transmit signals in the downlink for reducing interference. New results on pre-RAKE antenna combining are used to achieve this and improved performance is demonstrated by simulation results
