Abstract :
Multicarrier systems achieve good results when used for data transmission over mobile radio channels. We discuss design aspects of a multicarrier system with soft impulse shaping (MCSIS). We present symmetry criteria, when transmitting over an AWGN-channel, between equalization either in time or frequency direction. We show that the loss of this symmetry, when transmitting over a mobile radio channel, leads to a multicarrier system that can very flexibly be adapted to the requirements of different transmission environments
