Abstract
Short-term inter-utilities power-exchange is addressed in this paper. First, the integrated problem of scheduling and defining the level of power-exchange over the dispatch horizon is formulated and efficiently solved using interior point methods for nonlinear programming. Then, based on optimization techniques, a coordination procedure for utilities involved in these transactions is proposed. The coordination mechanism is iterative, simple and transparent and thus appropriate for energy or transmission markets. Test results are presented for the IEEE 14 bus system over a period of 24 hours
