  • Abstract
This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the design of M-channel cosine-modulated filter banks satisfying perfect reconstruction (PR). It is well known that FIR filter bank, satisfying the PR property, can be obtained by cosine modulation of a linear-phase prototype of length N=2mM (M is the number of channels and m is an arbitrary positive integer) by minimizing of the stopband energy of this prototype filter. Our algorithm needs only a few iterations to obtain a solution at minimizing procedure requiring approximately m(M/2) parameters to be optimized. Some design examples and comparisons are included
