Abstract
Wireless sensor networks are predominantly used in day today life. This network can be applied for environment monitoring with minimum infrastructure. The sensors used in the network faces major issues due to the limitations of energy resource. Many researchers is towards developing protocol for efficient usage of energy resource of the sensors. Energy harvesting sensor is emerging technique which creates an eco friendly environment. The proposed Energy Harvesting routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (EHWSN) applies solar based energy harvesting technique and effectively chooses the Cluster Head (CH) position with maximum harvesting rate. The performance results of the proposed protocol are compared with LEACH by measuring energy consumption and throughput. The result shows EHWSN outperforms LEACH protocol.
