Abstract :
Video security has gained profound importance over time in numerous applications wherein information in the form of video is to be secured from unauthorized access. Enciphering the video has become one of the prominent means of security and hence avoiding damage due to unauthorized access. Several schemes are available for securing the video files. These schemes focus mainly on the frequency domain of enciphering the video file. Some work in the spatial domain of enciphering the video file is also available. This paper proposes the usage of encryption methodologies to encipher video file in a time and space efficient manner. Here the application of region permutation techniques followed by application of AES and DES on the mp4 video files have been tested. The paper proposes the application of encryption scheme on the actual data that would be displayed after suitable processing rather than the application of the scheme on the video data file as a whole. The time selective video encryption methodology that used the concept of row-column permutation, effectively shuffles the video data resulting in faster and better encryption of video data. The proposed methodology renders the file playable in a distorted manner by enciphering the relevant video data after the video compression process has been performed thus taking advantage of the compression on video data.
