Abstract :
Aquatic Vegetation serve variety of uses in a water eco system, some of which are vital to the overall health of the aquatic environment and also to add to the aesthetics of its surroundings and to provide a suitable habitat for aquaculture. Excess growth of these plants may indicate an imbalance and lead to a deterioration of the aquatic ecosystem. Several integrated approaches adopted to control aquatic weeds growth can be quite variable from one region to another. In the present we have come up with a Sustainable Mechanical Control of the weeds by developing a Weed Cutter mechanism. A unique effort has been laid in creating the weed cutter platform using PVC pipes, buoyancy tanks by paint cans and new type of cutters have been developed. Sustainable mechanisms incorporated helps in removing floating weeds, immersed weeds and to an extent submerged weeds. Recyclable and cost effective materials are used in the fabrication of the mechanism and weed cutter. The machine can be manually operated and essence of skilled labor is not required.
