Abstract :
We numerically demonstrate that a local conversion from dispersion-managed soliton to nonlinear Schrodinger soliton restores the efficiency of optical regeneration control and enables the transmission of 32/spl times/40 Gbit/s over transoceanic distances with high spectral efficiency (1.4 nm channel spacing).
