Abstract :
An approach for the optimization of building contours from aerial ortho-images is presented. An object outline derived from a digital surface model serves as the initial contour. By means of a snake-like polygonal model the adaption to image edges is achieved. As described in Fua and Brechbuler (1996) building typical constraints are imposed on the contour model. Furthermore, the number of polygon vertices is dynamically adjusted. Thus, the proposed method jointly optimizes the number of vertices and the contour´s energy subject to geometric constraints
