Abstract
Five structural parameters of contrate contact, such as number and inclination of slot, contact diameter, the depth and thickness of contact cup, are arranged orthogonally to study magnetic characteristics. Experiments based on orthogonal design are analyzed by three dimensions finite element method. The regression equations of the relationship between structural parameters of contact and Lorentz force acting on the arc are given. In addition, the relationship between arc speed of the constricted arc and Lorentz force is investigated with the help of one-dimensional thermodynamic model of arc. The maximum rated short-circuit current varies as 0.4 power of the contact diameter.
