Abstract :
An adaptive algorithm is investigated for the frequency selective Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) channel with multipath fading. It is illustrated that the severe multipath fading yields burst errors at the sub-carriers that have small frequency response gain. By selecting the sub-carriers with small gain and amplifying the symbols conveyed on these carriers, a virtual propagation channel can be obtained. Furthermore, the frequency diversity is used for the small gain class of the virtual channel to reduce the bit error rate. The proposed algorithm can be realized easily, and can be combined with the other algorithms.
