Abstract :
Digital video broadcasting for handholds has been established as promising technology for TV on mobile. In DVB-H, the mobile unit receives the TV broadcasting in digital quality. However, due to multipath effects in wireless media the requirement of SNR increases to have quality video reception. The present work shows inclusion of simple post processing which overcomes the demand of higher SNR up to some extent. Simple post processing is based on median filtering concept, which does not increase much load on the slimmer mobile unit. The approach is simulated in MATLAB by implementing the DVB-H standard working with all supporting different channel challenges like Rayleigh (RL), Rician (RC), Portable Indoor (PI), Portable Outdoor (PO), Typical Urban (TU6), Rural Urban (RU6) defined by ETSI. The improvement in result is proven based on three widely accepted parameters for video transmission and receptions are Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE) and Similarity Factor (SF).
