Abstract :
The results of a ray-tracing analysis of 3.5 GHz narrowband measurements recently surveyed at a typical urban environment at Rio de Janeiro city are presented. Such analysis may be helpful for developing appropriate coverage prediction tools for some FWA (fixed wireless access) systems. As expected, diffraction at the edges of building at a crossing plays a major role in propagation along streets perpendicular to base stations. The main discrepancies between measurements and simulations may be due to vegetation blockage and to partial shadowing caused by a "virtual aperture" formed by pairs of building walls.
