Abstract :
A biomimetic model for bats´ biosonar is proposed to reproduce the signal processing method in its echolocation system. The model is first simulated in MATLAB environment and the results imply that this model can distinguish two glints with highly overlapped echoes and get accurate ranges for each target in noisy environments. The FPGA realization for this model is also considered and the hardware description code for this model is developed in Simulink@MATLAB based on System Generator for DSP toolbox. The results improve that it is hardware realizable for the bionic model in a single FPGA chip and real-time processing can be achieved.
