Abstract :
This study presents a first principles model predicting electric fields induced in seawater due to time varying magnetic fields during transmission from off-shore wave energy sites. Validation of the model as a predictor for the magnitude of the induced electric field is carried out using experimental measurements in simulated seawater in a limited dimension tank. The prediction of the model is further shown to follow the same dependence on current as the local magnetic field, and therefore a correlation between measured magnetic field and electric field is proposed.
