Abstract
Resilient systems minimize the impact of disruptive events. They effectively and efficiently employ social, technological, organizational, and other resources to rapidly return a system to normal function after natural or man made disasters. The smart grid has been touted as one such system. However, the literature highlights the lack of social resilience as a major deficiency in power systems resilience. This study includes results of an end-user survey to determine the underlying drivers of social acceptance of smart grid technology, such as smart meters. This information is valuable for incorporating end user behavior into designs for system resilience.
