Abstract
Commercial vehicles are used for delivering goods, and they differ from private vehicles in height, width, weight and turning radius. Some providers account for the weight, height, and access limits of large vehicles in their navigation systems, but none of them have considered the turning capability of large vehicles. This has led to a loss of confidence in navigation systems among many commercial vehicle drivers. This paper proposes a method for navigation systems to calculate the shortest path while taking into account the turning capability of commercial vehicles. Map data processing and algorithm design have been adjusted to reflect the routes rendered slow or impassable for commercial vehicles due to tight turns. This paper integrates spatial data and shortest path algorithms to develop a shortest path computing mechanism that applies to large commercial vehicles. Field testing confirmed that the calculation method proposed by this paper provided route guidance appropriate to the characteristics of commercial vehicles.
