Abstract
The choice of which parameter set to use will be determined partly by the design method. In this paper, three commonly used parameter sets are briefly examined in the context of digital-IIR filter design using optimization methods, in particular the method of simulated annealing. A new parameter set is then proposed which appears to possess some desirable properties, and an example is given illustrating the use of this new set in the design of a fourth-order filter by simulated annealing
