Abstract :
In this paper, a novel platform is proposed for rapid prototyping and development of field-oriented control (FOC) based permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. A complete process, from model testing in the simulation stage to the actual hardware testing stage, is presented in detail. By using automatic code generation (ACG) through PSIM simulation blocks and a Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) system, the development cycle for the implementation of FOC control algorithms can be significantly shortened. The core features of the software system and hardware setup are described in depth. The fidelity and prototyping efficiency is validated by the results from offline simulations, real-time simulations, and hardware testing.
