Abstract
The continuing rapid data growth is posing an ever increasing challenge to the storage administrators of aligning storage resources with the demands of business applications. Large companies have Data Centres numbering in thousands and are located at geographically wide spread places. The energy expenses are becoming an increasingly important proportion of the operating costs of the Data Centres. At the same time, the energy expense per unit can exhibit both temporal and geographic variations due to regional demand differences, transmission inefficiencies and generation diversity. The existing distributed systems should be able to exploit this variation for significant economic gains. In our scheme, clients may be routed to distant servers in search of cheap energy as in a multicast group of servers having data redundancy. This paper proposes an application and a method of implementation of the Workflow Intuitive Formal Approach. The automatic decision making technique seamlessly transfers the functionalities from any existing Data Centre to an available least energy cost location.
