Abstract :
For some applications, e.g. multimedia communications, bit streams have varying priorities. The current loading algorithms do not take bit priority into consideration. We propose a loading algorithm to allocate resources for bit streams with unequal priorities. The loading problem is formulated and the algorithm is derived by using a minimization of transmission power criterion. The proposed algorithm can be mathematically expressed in a closed form and therefore intensive sorting is avoided. The proposed loading algorithm is also simulated over a twisted-pair channel.
