Abstract
There is growing interest in very high speed local area networks capable of transporting ATM and multimedia traffic, and very wide bands (100s MHz) are becoming available to that effect. This paper introduces and analyzes some characteristics of a protocol to access and utilize all the available bandwidth without putting undue strain on the capabilities of individual transceivers
