Abstract :
The hierarchical variable size block matching method is usually employed to do the motion compensation in MC-EZBC, in which the block shape is square. Obviously, the block selection method greatly reduces the flexibility of the block division. So, a new block partition method is used to substitute the original quadtree block division scheme, in which the quadtree and the binary tree are combined for the block division method. At the same time, in order to reduce the time complexity, the mean absolute difference (MAD) and the mean difference of the two children of the binary tree are used to choose block division. The coding performance of the system is improved to a certain extent.
