Abstract :
A compact repetitive driver has been developed and demonstrated at Physics International which produces 120 ns, 1 MV pulses into 800 /spl Omega/ at up to 10 Hz repetition rate. The system operates in a burst mode with typical burst durations of 100 pulses, with bursts separated by 5 minutes. Longer bursts can be fired, if bursts are separated by longer "cool-down" times. The output pulse has a rise time of 40 ns, and is flat to within /spl plusmn/7%. The pulser is contained in a cylindrical housing 25 inches in diameter and 60 inches long. System controls and the high voltage power supply are contained in a standard 19 inch rack 72 inches high.
