Abstract :
Monitoring on the power off cables is relatively difficult and they are in a high risk of being stolen. This seriously affects the safe operation of power system, so anti-theft of power-off cables can´t be ignored. An anti-theft and location method based on pulse transmission attribute for power cables is presented in the paper. Firstly, low voltage pulse transmission attribute in cables with common faults such as low resistance and break-line faults are analyzed theoretically and the feasibility of this method are verified. Secondly, low voltage pulse´s transmission waveform is very different in amplitude and polarity between low resistance fault and stolen cables. According to this, an identification strategy based on threshold value and reflection pulse features is proposed. Finally, experimental study on low voltage pulse´s transmission attribute in cables with different faults is carried out and veracity of the identification strategy is verified. The anti-theft and monitoring method can provide more accurate cable stolen identification and location and have important engineering meaning to reduce the economic loss and ensure safe operation of the power system.
