Abstract :
V-band TWT prevails nowadays as amplifier device for the satellite communication and electronic countermeasures. The folded waveguide (FW) is a promising slow-wave structure (SWS) for V-band TWT with advantages of high power and considerable bandwidth. A FW TWT working in V band with 5GHz bandwidth is designed and then a prototype tube is successfully made and tested. The measured output power of the first prototype is above 26W through the working band. We can expect more than 40W power through modification and about 15% total efficiency by adding a three-stage depressed collector.
