Abstract
Two kinds of invalidation of particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation for a 1-THz backward-wave oscillator (BWO) are proposed. The influence of two related parameters on the simulation is discussed. Reference values of cell sizes (10 cells per wavelength or 10 cells in the interaction region) and the weight of macro-particles are proved to be valid and save the calculation time. The conclusion could also apply to simulation researches of other Cerenkov devices.
