Abstract :
A planar UWB monopole antenna with dual feed is designed for low-cost applications. The achieved input impedance bandwidth is 4-11 GHz for a size of 33 mm times 20 mm times 1.5 mm. The design is based on a square-like microstrip thick monopole drilled with its feeding circuit on a substrate of epsivtau= 2.33. The behaviour of the antenna operating in free-space is investigated both in the frequency and time domains. On-body measurements of the proposed antenna showing the proximity effects of the human body on both input impedance and radiation characteristics are presented.
