Abstract :
In a multi-rate wireless local area network environment, rate adaptation control is used to achieve effective communication and improve quality of service. Rate adaptation control adjusts terminal data rates in accordance with the distance between an access point and terminals. Considering the communication properties of the distance between an access point and terminals is important for throughput prediction and the location arrangement of access points. In this paper, we evaluate the throughput of the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and its related transmission rates for communication distances by using real mobile terminals and access points. Then, we evaluate the characteristics of distance-dependent UDP throughput by using the simulator to which measurement results obtained by real machine experiments are applied.
