Abstract :
The EMP is required to be addressed properly for the fighting vehicles as it requires to be fully operational during and after these severe conditions. The use of proper design methodology to ensure that the system survives EMP and activates the crucial life support systems is discussed in this paper. The paper also discusses the EMP levels encountered during on board operation of such a system for fighting vehicle and methods that are adopted to bring them to safe levels along with test results done in house at CVRDE. These high intensity waves are detected at early stage to initiate preventive safe guard mechanism to the methods that could be employed to minimize the effects from this strong electromagnetic phenomena based on the present scenario.
