Abstract
The information on the vertical structure and extent of precipitation is an important factor to be taken into consideration in the prediction of attenuation due to rainfall on a satellite slant path. The concept of the rain height is widely utilized in the prediction of slant path rainfall attenuation. The effective rain height is currently estimated in relation to the 0°C isotherm height, HR. There is a dearth of data on the rain height in the tropical regions of the world. A brief report is given on the variation of the 0°C isotherm in Nigeria, and some other relevant meteorological data that could influence the effective rain height
