Abstract
This paper proposes a method to improve the shielding effectiveness (SE) of a regularly filled conductive plastic (RFCP) which is very similar to a dipole array like a frequency sensitive surface (FSS). In this work rectangular loop like filler is considered as a constituent of the filled conductive composite to provide conduction which results in absorption loss of the material to improve the SE value of the conductive composite. The SE value of RFCP is computed from the reflection loss which is determined from the reflection coefficient of the RFCP and absorption loss. Methods of computation of reflection coefficient and absorption loss are well described in this paper. The computed SE value is compared with the SE of available filled composite in which the fillers are randomly distributed and also with the regularly distributed flakes type filler. It has been found that in the microwave range RFCP exhibits a better SE value.
