Field strength prediction for VHF/UHF terrestrial broadcasting and mobile radio services

Prolonged experience of the CCIR curves has shown up various shortcomings. Within the UK, the BBC has conducted an in-depth study over the years 1985-8, using many of the original measurements used to construct the curves, plus more recent results, with the aim of refining the method. It is hoped that this will also lead to improvements to the BBC prediction program, using a terrain data bank of the UK. The possibility of bridging the gap between the two methods is also being assessed.
