Abstract :
The author offers guidelines on the limitations of wideband whip antennas. A very large number of antennas are analysed numerically, together with their matching networks, and optimal combinations of antennas and matching networks with respect to certain requirements are found. These optimal combinations are regarded as the best antennas (integral with their matching networks) and the results are summarized in a number of diagrams
